appointment in the Straits Settlements an

the Federated Malay States.

are reserved for cadet officers with

legal qualifications and for members of

the local Bar. Mr.Alabaster's name has

been noted, however, and his name will

receive consideration in connection with

vacancies in Malaya to which the

restriction mentioned does not apply.
